Global Food Security Program
The CSIS Global Food Security Program offers policy-relevant insights and serves as an independent forum for discussion on U.S. leadership in global food security and agricultural development. Through desk and field research, forward-looking analyses, and public and private events, the program focuses on building bipartisan awareness about global food security and its importance to U.S. strategic interests.

By working with thought leaders, the program aims to spark new dialogues on challenges to global food security and help develop both the policy solutions and political will to address them.
CSIS has been leading research and discussion on global food security since the 2008 food price shocks, which triggered widespread civil unrest. Past work has emphasized the importance of investing in agricultural research and development, engaging the private sector, and creating favorable trade and investment climates. Current work focuses on the nexus between food security and national security, the importance of integrating nutrition and agriculture, and how enabling environments foster economic growth.
